Dennis has a Phase
Dennis is going through a mature phase now that he is a cat-adult. He is reading Martha Stewart Magazine and selecting wallpaper patterns. He is thinking about menus for gatherings and hoping to have his portrait painted for above his future fireplace. Dennis says it's time to mature and be dignified and respectable.

I misread "future" as "fur."
As in: fur fireplace.
And I thought, what a cool idea.
And then I thought, of course a cat would have a fur fireplace.
And then I realized that I should probably go back to the eye doctor.

Elmo probably qualifies for an AARC
membership (American Association for Retired Cats) but I'm not brave enough to tell him.
Hell, I call him grampa and I'm still afraid to tell him.
(Sometimes, like earlier this evening, Bob will be lolling near Elmo, somewhere within the boundaries of Elmo's vast personal space, completely oblivious of the fact that Elmo is glaring at him with a look of unadulterated hatred. It's the expression I imagine a serial killer might wear. Then Bob will toddle over to Elmo, and Elmo, all innocent and evil will bow his head hoping that Bob will lick him. I swear, Elmo's a real pisser of a cat.)
(Yep, Elmo's Ted Bundy, and sweet sweet Bob is Saint Francis.)
