Dennis Tries Pink Hat Therapy

Dennis, (because he is so loving) has agreed to family therapy, as long as he is the one to choose the therapist and go first.
Dennis chose to go with Portable Hair Dryer Girl and her controversial Pink Hat Therapy. Each cat is given the pink hat to do whatever he wants with it. Here you see the beginning of the first session, where Dennis is given the pink hat. Your input is important to Dennis.

Tomorrow and Friday we'll have more pink hat sessions to see what Eddy and Chedwick do with the same pink hat.
Maybe there will be a breakthrough and a family dynamic can be labeled and studied and understood. Please stop by to analyze each session.

THe pink hat suits Dennis very well.

Dennis is obviously initially discombobulated by the innate pinkness of the hat, but I like the inspired way he ups and gives Eddy a fo'rp'ny one when Eddy attempts interference.
If you don't know what a fo'rp'ny one is, ask Lettuce.

I'd heard of the Red Hat Society for women seeking Fun, Friendship, Freedom and Fulfillment. I assume Pink Hat Therapy is the feline equivalent for families seeking to Form Firmer Footprints in Forthrightness and Friendliness?

Best wishes to the analyst, the analysands ... and the hat, of course.

hmmm...lets see how the other sessions go. methinks it is promising

Dennis obviously wants to control the pink hat, and see if it is edible.

Dennis is trying to be kind and gentle to the pink hat, but ends up smashing it flat. He tries to fix things, but ends up leaving the hat permanently dented. Hats are very fragile.

These therapy session should prove highly productive.

Hugh, there will be a sense of calmness that will invade, opening up the pathway to dialoguing amongst and between the participants.

Who says real Mancats don't like pink! Dennis is just getting in touch with his feminine side.

i am not a big pink fan so i think i would have torn the pink hat. i think Dennis did a good job in batting the hat, but not destroying it. that is a good sign.

Edward, i do have an evil alter ego. his name is Bendrix. he is the one that causes me to do naughty things like scratch the sofa and jump up on the piano where i am NOT allowed. it is nice to have "someone" to blame since i am an only kitty.

Mr. Hendrix, you are brilliant! Dennis needs a name for his evil alter ego. maybe Drittny or Ditler.

Dennis, it seems to me you were testing the sturdiness of the hat, to see it will withstand the sessions; to see if it is what it seems; to see if you get a good feeling. I don't blame you.

I like Ditler. That sounds sort of cool! I think everyone should have a nickname or alter ego. Sometimes my sis used to call me Tinius. Or even Titinius, when we were being daring and cavalier. :) I love checking on you and the family.

No wonder Eddy annoys you :-/

PS: Forget family therapy. Eddy needs therapy for himself, alone. To learn how to not be so annoying to the household.

So what if Chedwick can tolerate him. Or if the rest of the household can. This is all about YOU.

Elmo doesn't need an evil name for his evil alter ego because Elmo IS his evil alter ego. Which is what I suspect the case is with Dennis also.

What Dennis and Elmo need are good names for their good, sublimated, invisible good, happy, light-hearted, friendly, welcoming, embracing, accepting alter egos. I call Bob Sunny sometimes because his personality is so sunny. Maybe I should start calling Elmo Sunny and see if it makes him find his good side.

Incidentally, is that Eddy vocalizing in the video? Because Bob makes so same sounds and has since he was a kitten when he's playing. It's a chirpy churring kind of sound. Not a purr, not a meow. A very distinctive, high-pitched sound he makes only when he plays.

When he was teeny tiny, he made the most excellent sound when he was really excited. I've never heard any other cat or kitten make this sound. Whenever he was really revved up (like if he happened to spot Elmo or his beloved cat daddy who recently died), he'd go (and I'm not making this up):

WHEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

And then run out of the room.

He stopped making that sound at 6 months, alas.

Oh, and Dennis, stick with the pink hat therapy. It might help. Maybe just hat therapy period. Maybe a black hat next time. Or a sombrero. Or a ball cap. Or a beret.

Wow. Dennis looked really angry when he left at the end. That kitten is super pesky, and I'm sure he's not nearly as cute when he's a smaller version of you. Jennifer feels sorry for Dennis.

Dennis says the chirpy meows on the video are from Ched, who sings a lot and is always cheery.

Dennis says Thanks Jen, Dennis is glad someone understands.

So cute. I love your video of Dennis.

Dennis is tentative at first but soon branches out in new directions. He enjoys experimenting and is therefore not perturbed when these new directions lead to something different. However, Dennis is easily bored...

Bitchlet thinks that Dennis should tell Eddy who the real BOSS is.

dennis said...

Dennis says let's all remember that Eddy is only about twelve weeks old. He just realized yesterday that his name is Eddy.

Aw, the loving Dennis.

Curiosity and a measure of protectiveness and irritation. He will not be almost goaded into childish behavior by a ridiculous pink lightweight bowl.
