Dennis Loves Eddy

Yes, from day one Dennis loved Eddy, because who can resist a kitten? Not Dennis.

Dennis has been happy to let Chedwick have some say in how Eddy will be raised. Chedwick is the one who plays with Eddy the most, because they both love running at top speed around the house.

Dennis prefers to groom and nurture kittens. Dennis has a strong parenting gene, but once the kittens are older, the power struggle may begin. But...Dennis is mellowing, so we shall see. Dennis says "enjoy your kids while they're little" and "teach your children well."

Hi Dennis! We came over from Daisy's blog when we saw the word "kitten".
Eddy is adorable, but you are right, kittens take a lot of work in order to raise them properly.

Dennis, you clearly prefer home-schooling. What is your policy on staying up late to watch TV?

Laila thinks you are a fine looking trio of tuxies. Laila says her mom wants to steal little Eddy.

OH Dennis! You must really love your baby to tidy up his bum area! You are good "mommy"

That behaviour is very becoming in a mancat.

Purrs to your gorgeous tuxie family,

Dennis, you are so lucky to have a baby kitten of your very own! My Mommie keeps threatening to bring home one of the kittens from the shelter, but my Daddie keeps saying "NO!"

Dennis is exhausted! The kitten wakes everybody up all the time!

Oh Dennis :) It is good to see you have a soft spot!! Little kitties are irresistible even if they do keep you up and race around at top speed!!!! Heeheehee

Oh, my people tell me that kittens are a lot of trouble. I guess I was a kitten once, but that was a very long time ago! I've been the lone cat for so long that I can't even remember what a kitten looks like. (Thank goodness!)

What does Dennis do when Ched and Eddy run around the house at top speed?

You who are on the road

teach your children well
don't give them hell

yeah, Rollmops loves that song, too, Dennis. Getting all nostalgialized up here in Cat Heaven.

I love the concentrated look on Eddy's face in the first picture.

How does a full grown cat like Dennis react when he is first introduced to a little kitten like Eddy? (I mean generally rather than specifically.)

dennis said...

Dennis STARED sniffed the kitten , circled him, looked him over, and licked him.

You're supposed to introduce new cats gradually, but we don't do anything special. It took about 20 minutes before the first lick, and the next day we were napping together

Happy 4th of July from Canada to dennis, Chedwick and to Edward!

That is cool that you like to "parent" Eddy.

I bet it is funny to watch Eddy and Chedwick play thundering herd of elephants around the house.

Dennis is still very tired. Tomorrow afternoon will mark ONE WEEK that Eddy has been with us.

Bocker Tov!

Black and white tuxie duo: I just have to ask: Do you also see shades of grey?
You mancats must be a blast to hang out with.

Dennis admits that in real life the tuxies are a bit of a clique... but we're friendly & peaceful as long as outsiders don't try any of that alpha stuff. We had a big orange cat stray stay with us for a while and he would get up from a nap and be looking to have a big huge fight. It was disruptive to our routine. (and we were all afraid of him, too.) He was happy to find a new home where he was the only cat. Dennis was not sad to see the back of him.

Hi Dennis.
I'm not familiar with the term 'tuxies' or tuxedo cats - but then I'm a Brit. What can you do??
Anyway, I think it's a lovely description. :D

I'm privileged to live with 2 black n white cats. Their names are Charlie and Coco. If I can get them to keep still long enough I'll take some photos and post them.

I think you're very patient with little Ed there. I dread to think what C & C would do ....

Dennis explains to Betty:

Tuxedo is a Native American word that means place of the bear (the den where he sleeps)

Tuxedo NY (near Nyack) is an early early gated community where a lot of wealthy folks lived. The guys from Tuxedo would go to a lot of black tie events in NYC which required them to wear a dinner jacket--after these events, the guys (some of whom were famous scientists) would go to Delmonicos' restaurant in NYC where they would drink and talk for hours. The waiters would simply call them "those Tuxedo guys" since they were all from Tuxedo and would enter & leave the restaurant at the same time like a gang. The dinner jacket was nicknamed "The Tuxedo" in NYC after awhile. What do you call a dinner jacket in Britain?

I don't think I've met a mellow cat before. They tend to be high strung, at least around me.

dennis said...

Dennis thinks some cats are afraid and worried with good reason. Dennis has always been timid with strangers and sometimes they want to push and get to know you way too fast. Or they yell.
