Dennis Loses his Voice

Dennis has gotten through a week and a day with his new son, Eddy. Most of it was pretty mellow.

Dennis reports the last few days Eddy has gained the wrong sort of confidence and has been very busy every minute making demands and trying to break things. Dennis says it's so hard to be a dad! Nobody listens! Nobody follows the rules!

Dennis retreated to his cupboard above the refrigerator. The kitten can't get up there yet. After a day without a nap, Ched came up and begged Dennis to come down to help watch Eddy.

Ched says Dennis won't answer me.

Dennis has lost his voice from singing and screaming all week long. Dennis sang a lot of opera he was so glad to have a new kitten, but he also screamed out instructions and rules all week too. Now he needs to rest his pipes.

Dennis lost his voice?!!! :o
Dennis needs to go with the flow where kitties are concerned :)
They are high energy, action oriented curious furballs that don't listen!!!!!
Save your voice, take some catnip and enjoy the little fuzzy :)

Dennis is finding out that parenting can be quite challenging and carries a large responsibility! Dennis needs a throat sprizter and a nap!

Poor Dennis......Eddy reminds me a lot of Junior Mayhem! Maybe I need to find a cabinet on top of the fridge to hide in too! I never thought of that!

R.L. Bourges said...

opera, huh? which one, which one? (no need to sing, Dennis, you can just croak out the keystrokes when you come down from the cupboard)

Dennis made too many rules! I'm too little to understand! It seems Ched will lose his voice next.

"the wrong sort of confidence"--that's great.

typical. Dennis saddles me with all the work. This was supposed to be a shared thing. Eddy is fun though.

Dennis, continue to take your well deserved rest. Kittens can be so busy they just wear themselves out eventually, then nap & do it all over again.
What gorgeous, handsome tuxies you 3 are!!

Ah the wonderful joy of parenting!!!

I lost my voice this weekend too. I'm better now. I hope you get better too.

Poor Dennis! Being a dad is a very big responsibility. I did not know that, when you get tired of it, you can just go rest in a cupboard for a while. That's a great idea! If I had realized that, I might not have had my ladygardenectomy.

It is very adorable how little Eddy looks just like you!

dennis said...

Daisy, what's a ladygardenectomy???

The Crew said...

Edward looks like a miniature Dennis. Is there anything you want to tell us, Dennis?

Catlin said...

I thought you were kidding about the kitten. I thought it was Dennis or Ched when they were little... but you have a KITTEN!!!

WoW!

Nomi said...

Awhh, Denis. You a daddy and you don't know what a ladygardenectomy is !! I hope your miaow soon wecovers.

WAT said...

That's hilarious! Dennis had to find refuge near the cereal and oatmeal? He's worked hard. Time for Chedwick to pitch in and help raise Eddy, who is getting bigger it seems.

dennis said...

Dennis has decided to let Ched do most of the work.

The top photograph is beautiful.

It looks like a painting.

I can't tell if I'm more in love with Edward or that pink smoke bush.

(and Aoise, if you should happen to read this, I think you're one hell of a handsome cat. Very dapper. Very 40's cinema star.)

Dennis, we just found out that you became a daddy. Congratulations! Eddy is adorable - and he looks just like you. We hope you don't spend his entire childhood in the cupboard.

BTW - a ladygardenectomy is what a lot of the cats on the CB call a female being spayed.

Dear Dennis, Momma says she understands how you feel and wants to hide in the cupboard also. Parenting kitties is hard work.

Wow Dennis your son Eddy is so cute and he looks just like you. We have never been moms or dads but it sure does look like hard work!

Dennis, it is hard to be an older cat with a young kitten. Muffin is going nuts. Artemis jumps him, which he doesn't like, eats his food, then sits in my lap--THE DOMAIN OF MUFFIN. But Artemis is bringing out the cat in Muffin; he's 19 and was turning into a piece of furniture. Now we have some life! And she isn't afraid of anything. But this human here is a bit tired.

dennis said...

Dennis admits he got way too sedentary for an 8 year old cat. Then there's the grumpy factor which makes Dennis seem older. Dennis is exhausted still.

Unknown said...

Dennis isn't fussy about where he sleeps sorta like me.

Thanks to Enemy of the Republic I found Dennis and his blog.

Poor Dennis. He looks exhausted.

Dennis, a "ladygardenectomy" is where they take out the girl parts that make babies. For a Mancat, it is called a "hoo-ha-ectomy."

I've just discovered your Dennis. Mine is featured a few posts back on my blog.I'll be back with or without the Aussie Dennis - he is after all Dennis the Menace from next door, and visits when it suits him, not us.Love your adventures!

Mr. Hendrix said...

whoa, mommy's been sick so we haven't visited and then we come back to find... you're a daddy!
congratulations! Edy is such a handsome & adorable little boy. how could he not be with a dad like you!
yes, little kittens need guidance. you rest up so you can give him instructions later.

Mr. Hendrix said...

PS Maybe Ched needs a little nip? Kinda like that song "Mother's little helper" by the Rolling Stones...

dennis said...

Dennis likes the fact that Ched is really confused and overtired!! Eddy loves to eat--a good eater, not picky like Dennis is. Dennis is Ultra Super picky about food!

I'm glad Dennis has a cupboard to relax in. Charlie likes to sit on top of the refrigerator. I think it's nice and warm up there.

Bitchlet hopes that Dennis is OK. She wonders if he recovered at least part of his voice.

Bitchlet is proud of Dennis for guarding his only refuge at home. She hopes he can keep it up when Eddy gets older.

Ooooohhh, Edward is so cute! I want to get a kitten too! But Fritz would probably tear him into ribbons in no time. Dennis is such a kind and caring soul I hope little Eddy knows how lucky he is to have such a loving papa.

i love Dennis but Ched is my very best friend--we play ALL day!

Shammickite said...

Dennis, I recommend a shot of Scotch with a spoonful of honey and hot water... doesn't do much for the voice but it sure makes you feel better!

Shammickite said...

But don't give any to Eddy.

sifter said...

Dennis, you can't turn a kitten into a Tom in a day.
And frankly, you've got more rules than a state penitentary. No wonder he's confused. Stop shouting at Eddy and shout at Ched instead to quit whining and WATCH THAT KITTEN.

Hope eddy is keeping you all busy today.

Listen; it's very hard being a parent. Period. I love that first photo. Eddy will calm down shortly, I know.

OK Dennis, Time to come out now.
Eddy needs you.
