Dennis Looks Sweet

Dennis has been doing the sweet routine with the humans. Dennis sits on their laps and falls asleep, clinging so they feel they cannot move. Dennis sleeps with them and slowly pushes them to the outer edges of the bed. Dennis becomes a 22 pound boulder blocking them when they try to move back towards center. Dennis does not move if prodded or pushed. Dennis pushes back.

This is all so true. Once Dennis sits someplace, he's not moving until he's good and ready. He will stay on a chair while it's being moved to another room.

Dennis, you are a mancat after our own heart. Our mom has learned to sleep around us - after all, we just allow her to share the bed with us.

Years ago, my family had a cat named Cocoa (she was a Siamese Burmese and her fur was the richest darkest chocolaty brown I've ever seen) who was an alpha cat who could kick everyone else's ass. She didn't tolerate other cats in the yard, let alone in the house. She didn't tolerate dogs in the yard either. She was fierce. A real bitch on wheels. But intelligent. And loyal. Maybe too loyal. She was very protective, in almost doggish manner, of the whole family, and wasn't crazy about people coming into the house. She was an amazing, amazing animal. She lived to be twenty years old and would've gone to maybe twenty-five (even though she chased dogs and cats out of the yard, she was an indoor cat who was allowed outside only if tethered or on a leash) if she hadn't developed cancer of the eye. The vet removed that eye, but the cancer had already spread. Even with one eye, that twenty year old cat was a real beauty.

Reason I mention her here is because, like Dennis, she used to love to hog the bed. She'd somehow exert all of her ten pounds upon the legs of the sleeping victim and manage to push them to the edge of the bed during the course of the night. And if you tried to move her , she felt like a big furry 25 pound rock.

Thanks for making me think of her tonight.

She was one hell of a cat.

(btw, Dennis is quite the handsome fellow)

And that is why Fred the Cat has his bed in the bathroom. Everyone gets a good nights sleep, Fred the Cat too.

Dennis is really beautiful on this picture, yes, he is. And Cergie likes the black phone in the background which is the proof that Dennis is a very important person
