Dennis is Upset

Dennis says this is not a very good picture, but it shows one part of one arm that Dennis is over-grooming. For awhile there it was completely bald, as were spots on legs , tummy and the other arm. Then it got a bad rash, now the hair grew back a little, but Dennis has started grooming these areas again... obsessively. Dennis needs help. Dennis says the vet says it is mental in this case, or maybe Dennis needs vitamins. Dennis is depressed. Dennis refuses to take vitamins.

Poor Dennis, how may it be possible ? You need love, only love and we love you so much.
I hope you will be better when the weather will be better too and you will stroll outside in the street and garden
[Maybe are you jealous because it is the year of the tiger and not of the cat ?]
Happy happy happy new year of the feline, Dennis !

Dennis!! maybe a little outdoors time? supervised, of course.

Frank has been scratched, deeply, by a wayward cat, by the way, and is hunkered down. It has yet to be determined if a vet visit is in order. Perhaps you could send some of your energy his way, and let your lovely fur regrow.

We prescribe kisses, more yoga and ground up papaya pills in your food.

Oh Dennis! I wish I could give you some advice, but I have barbered off huge spots of fur myself. My tummy is almost bald, and the sides of my rear legs as well. My overgrooming is from stress. Caused by Harley.

Do you think some nice Feliway plug-ins would help you relax?

I do this too. They gave me OCD drugs which made my back legs weak so they stopped that. Now I get fish oil which seems to be helping.

Dennis has no cure except maybe stop Eddy from bothering Dennis. Dennis doesn't like outdoors because Dennis doesn't like walk on dirt or old leaves.

Dennis is sad that daisy has the same problem. Harley and Eddy are alike!

Dennis says thank you for the fish oil advice. Dennis will send a human to the pet store this weekend.

he might needs anxiety meds, like for OCD in people. And yes, the Omega 3's help reduce inflammation and may help and certainly won't hurt anything.

Ah, yes, fish oil.

I give it to Elmo for his arthritis, but humans take it for depression and maybe it would cure yours, too.

Dennis, has anything changed in your environment? This kind of behavior is usually linked to a change. In Bob's case, he got anxious because he couldn't clean himself everywhere that needed to be cleaned because he was overweight.

The slightest change, in litter, litterbox, food, routine, anything, can cause even the most sensible of cats to go a bit wonky.

Sir, I do hope the fish oil helps.

Well, Dennis, you have lots of kind people giving you lots of good advice. Try grooming Eddy instead. If you can pin him down. Or maybe spend an evening listening to Bruce Springsteen music. I always find Bruce is a great companion when in times of need.
